Ayushman Bharat Scheme: GiveThe purpose of Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the biggest health scheme of Sh, is that every needy person should get free treatment. But the figures that have come out recently are questioning the reliability and future of the plan. Every year a large number of hospitals used to join this scheme, but now the interest of private hospitals seems to be decreasing in it.
Connection of new hospitals decreased in 2024–25
In 2024–25, only 2,113 hospitals are associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme, while in 2023–24 the number was 4,271 and 3,124 in 2022–23. That is, this time there has been a clear decline in the number of hospitals joining the scheme. This information has been given by Health Minister Prataprao Jadhav.

How many hospitals are there in the scheme?
According to the information, a total of 31,466 hospitals across the country have been included under this scheme, out of which 14,194 are private hospitals. This means that the scope of the scheme has increased, but new participation is decreasing.
How many treatment is included in this scheme?
Health benefits package for treatment under this scheme has been updated five times. The new package brought in 2022 HBP 2022, 1,961 types of medical procedures, which are spread over 27 different specialty.
Why are private hospitals back back?
Experts and organizations of private hospitals say that their biggest problems are.
- Delay in claim payment – According to the rule, patients inside the states should be paid in 15 days and patients from other states should be paid in 30 days. But in reality this time limit breaks many times, especially in big hospitals and expensive treatment cases.
- Package Rate – Many private hospitals say that the money received in lieu of treatment is less than the cost. This causes them financial loss.
