PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have expressed grief over the cloudburst in Dharali village of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. He expressed condolences on the loss of public wealth in this disaster and expressed sympathy to the affected families.
On Tuesday, a cloudburst in the catchment area of Kheer Ganga river in Dharali village of Uttarkashi district caused huge destruction. So far, 4 people have been confirmed in this horrific disaster, while about 50 people are said to be missing. Due to cloudburst, there was a sudden landslide and sharp flash flood in the village, which shed many houses. In the video that surfaced on social media, it can be seen that a fierce stream from the mountains is flowing fast towards the village and people are screaming in panic.
PM Modi spoke to CM Dhami
PM Modi has spoken to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the accident of Dharali. He wrote on X- I express my condolences to the people affected by this tragedy at Dharali in Uttarkashi. I have taken information about the situation by talking to Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami ji. Relief and rescue teams are engaged in every possible effort under the supervision of the state government.
Home Minister Amit Shah ordered immediate action
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, considering this disaster as serious, spoke to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on the phone. After this, Shah shared the information on ‘X’, saying that, “Talked to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand regarding the sudden flood in Dharali (Uttarkashi) and inquired about the incident. Three ITBP teams posted nearby have been sent to the spot and four NDRF teams have also been sent for quick relief work.
Police appealed to people to be vigilant
The Uttarkashi police has shared pictures of the destruction and appealed to the people to be vigilant. Police said, “In view of this incident, all people, especially children and animals, maintain a safe distance from the river.” Relief and rescue operations are going on fast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have also closely monitored the situation and have given instructions to provide help to the affected soon. According to the administration, teams of NDRF and State Disaster Response Force are posted on the spot.
