India’s exciting 6 runs in the Oval Test on England will be counted in the most memorable moments of Test cricket forever. On the fifth day, India had all out for 367 runs thanks to Mohammad Siraj’s deadly spell. Siraj took a total of 9 wickets in the match for which he was awarded the Player of the Match Award. After the match, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) rewarded the award winners, but due to alcohol, Siraj refused to take that gift.
After the Oval Test, Mohammad Siraj was adjudged the Player of the Match. Gautam Gambhir and Brendon McCullum had chosen Harry Brook and Shubman Gill as Player of the Series respectively. These award winners were given by ECB as a bottle gift of Shempane after the match, but Mohammad Siraj refused to take it. On the other hand, Shubman Gill accepted the bottle of Shempane, but he did not open the bottle in honor of Siraj.
Mohammad Siraj did not accept the bottle of Shempane because consuming alcohol in Islam is considered haraam. Remind you that Siraj also went on Haj pilgrimage before the start of IPL 2025 this year.
