A hearing was held in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday (August 13) in the case of ban on feeding pigeons. During this time, the Bombay High Court said that pouring grains on pigeons will still be banned.

However, during the hearing, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated a relief to bird lovers. BMC said that we are ready to give permission to pigeons from 6 to 8 am with conditions.

What did the court say?

During the hearing of Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Arif Doctor, how can you remove such orders. First you decided in public interest, now one person is coming and saying something, so you changed your decision. You should go legally. If someone appealed against your decision and if you want to change your decision, then you should take out notice. Consult all sides.

At the same time, the petitioner said that Mahalakshmi race course can be made feeding point. On this, the court said that such people will ask to make every open space feeding point.

BMC said that before the decision of controlled feeding, we will ask for decoration from public. At the same time, the court said that in the committee formed by the government, all the parties and petitioners associated with this issue can be given advice. The committee formed by the government will have to report from its first meeting to the next one month.

The court said that after consulting the public in 5-10 days about controlled feeding, take a decision. The next hearing of the case will be 4 weeks later.

Actually, the pigeon at Dadar in Mumbai was covered recently. With this, BMC put notice boards. The petition has been filed by people who feed the pigeons in pigeons regularly. The petitioners have challenged this decision of the Municipal Corporation, in which due to health hazards, such grains have been banned and the pigeon has been closed.

What is written on the board?

All citizens are informed that feeding foods to animals and birds at this place is strictly prohibited. Putting birds in the open in public crowded places can cause mildew infection, causing respiratory diseases.

All citizens are appealed not to put food items to animals and birds at the said place, otherwise criminal action will be taken against the person concerned as per the order of the Hon’ble High Court.

Also, under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Cleanliness and Health Subsidhi 7, adding food to animals and birds in public place is a crime and a fine of ₹ 500/- will be charged for each such crime.
