What is a trade deal in IPL?
In IPL 2025, Rajasthan Royals retained Sanju Samson for Rs 18 crore. At the same time, Chennai Super Kings retained Ravindra Jadeja and Rituraj Gaikwad for Rs 18-18 crore. At the same time, CSK invested Rs 12 crore to retain Shivam Dubey. Now if there is a trade deal between Rajasthan and Chennai for IPL 2026 and one of the players from Jadeja or Gaikwad in RR’s team instead of Sanju Samson, then there will be no money transaction between the two teams.
If CSK is ready to give Shivam Dubey to RR with Sanju Samson, then the Chennai team will have to pay 6 crore rupees along with giving Shivam Dubey to Rajasthan, because Samson’s writ price is six crore rupees more than Shivam Dubey. This is called trade deal in IPL. After the final match of any IPL, the teams can do trade deals till 30 days before the auction for the next season.
