The Indian Air Force is going to farewell to its MiG-21 and in such a situation there will be a huge shortage of fighter jets, so IAF wants the approval to buy 114 multi-roll fighter jets (MRFA) from the government in the next 2 months. The big question is whether the Indian Air Force will bet on France’s Rafael only or can bet on F-15 of America and SU-35 of Russia. We tell you the specialty of these most dangerous fighter jets of the 4.5th generation of the world.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has started the process of obtaining initial government approval (AON) to carry forward its 114 multi -roll fighter jet (MRFA) procurement program. The estimated cost of this deal is $ 15 to 20 billion. It will be implemented under the Make in India structure. Currently, IAF has only 31 squadrons while the government has stated the requirement of 42 squadrons in view of the possible struggle on two fronts. The retirement of old fighter jets like MIG-21 has further increased this difference.

How will India become self -sufficient in the defense sector?

The MRFA program is not only limited to the purchase of aircraft, but it is also an important part of the Make in India initiative. Its main objective is not just to bring modern jets, but also to strengthen technical transfer, indigenous construction and India’s defense-industrial ecosystem. Indian companies will be included in the construction and assembly process. This will not only create new jobs, but India will also be able to become self -sufficient in maintenance and upgrading of fighter jets for a long time.

Which fighter jet will be purchased by Rafale, F-15 or SU-35?

The Indian Air Force, which wants multi -roll fighter jets, makes France’s Dassault Aviation, America’s Boeing and Lockheed Martin, Sweden’s Saab, Europe Consortium of Europe and MiG and Sukho of Russia.

  • Dassault Aviation (France) – Rafael (IAF already has 36 Rafale fighter jets, which gives a big benefit)
  • Boeing (America)-F/A-18 Super Hornet and F-15X Eagle II
  • Lockheed Martin (America)-F-21 (Advanced version of F-16 designed especially for India)
  • Saab (Sweden) – Gripane E
  • Eurofighter Consortium (UK, Germany, Italy, Spain) – Typhoon.
  • Russia-MiG-35 and Su-35.

What will be fighter jets in the future with IAF?

The MRFA aircraft will create a multi-borne air fleet in association with the current Sukhoi-30 MKI, Mirage 2000, LCA Tejas and Rafael of the Indian Air Force. These aircraft will not only ensure air superiority but will also play a decisive role in ground attacks, reconnaissance missions and modern warfare strategies. It is estimated that this deal will be signed by 2028 and delivery of aircraft will begin after three to four years. In the coming time, the deployment of these aircraft will strengthen India’s war capacity.
