Yes, new research has revealed that only the inclusion of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet improves not only the health of the kidney, but also reduces blood pressure and the risk of heart attack also decreases.

In this study at the University of Texas, USA, Austin, 153 high BP and Macrolbuminuria patients were divided into three groups.
- First Group-Fruits and vegetables that make 2–4 cups base with daily meals were included.
- Second Group – 4–5 tablets (650 mg) of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) were given twice daily.
- Third Group – Only General Medical Care was given.
Why is macroelbuminuria dangerous?
This condition is a sign of chronic kidney disease. It increases the risk of kidney failure over time. Also, the risk of heart attack and stroke also increases manifold.
Research results
The study found that both fruits and vegetables and sodium bicarbonate improved kidney health. However, only fruits and vegetables were effective in reducing blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease. Baking soda did not get these two benefits.
Drug dose also decreased
Another big advantage was that eating fruits and vegetables had to reduce the amount of medicines used in the treatment of BP and heart disease. That is, the patient also got good results in low doses of medicine.

According to Dr. Maninder Kahlle involved in the study, “The patients can get the benefits of kidney health, both baking soda and fruits and vegetables, but prevention of BP control and heart disease is possible only from fruits and vegetables. So they should be considered a foundational treatment for high BP patients.”
What to do patients?
Include 2–4 cups of green leafy vegetables, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, papaya, apple, orange etc. in diet daily.
- Avoid junk food, high salt and processed food.
- Drink regular exercise and enough water.
