In the 16th Asian Shooting Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Kazakhstan, Kapil Bainsla has won India’s glory. The Haryana shooter won the first gold for India on Monday.
Kapil Bainsla topped the 10m Air Pistol Mains Junior final, scoring 243.0 in the final. At the same time, after trailing by 0.6 points, Ilkombek Obidzonov of Uzbekistan finished second. Jonathan Gavin Anthony of Karnataka won the bronze medal with 220.7 points.
Ilkhomback of Uzbekistan made the fastest debut in the final. Kapil was seen chasing him. After the 15th shot, for the first time, Kapil beat up Ilkhomback, but after the 20th shot, Ilkhomback again took the lead. He was one point ahead of Kapil before the last two shots.
After this, Kapil scored a brilliant score of 10.8 and 10.6, while Ilkhombech could score 10.4 on 23rd shot and 9.4 on the last shot. Taking advantage of this mistake of Ilkhombec, Kapil took the title.
Three Indian shooters reached this final. Kapil finished fourth in the qualification with 579 points, while Jonathan finished second with 582 points. Apart from these, Mukesh Nelavali was at the third position. In the qualification, Korean player Kim Duon topped 582 points.
Kapil and Jonathan along with Vijay Tomar won the silver medal at the team event. The Indian team scored a total of 1723 points. Korea won gold with 1734 points, while host Kazakhstan won the bronze medal.
India’s only shooter Anmol Jain (155.1 points) finished sixth in the Senior Men’s final, while Hu Kai of China won gold. He was also a shooter winning gold for China at the team event. Anmol, along with Aditya Malra and Saurabh Chaudhary, won the silver in the team event with a joint effort of 1735 points. On the second day, women and junior women air pistol finals will be played on Tuesday.
