Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for a four -day visit to Japan and China on Friday (August 29, 2025) next week. The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Friday (August 22, 2025) about Prime Minister Modi’s proposed foreign visit. PM Modi will be on a two -day visit to Japan in the first phase of his foreign trip. After this, the Prime Minister will visit China, where he will mainly attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Modi will go to Japan for the eighth time as Prime Minister

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to both Asian countries has announced a few days after China’s foreign minister Wang Yi’s visit to India. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) announced PM Modi’s visit, saying that Modi will be in Japan on 29 and 30 August to participate in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit (India-Japan Annual Summit 2025). This will be Modi’s eighth visit to Japan as Prime Minister.

Global issues will be discussed with review of strategic partnership- Ministry of External Affairs

The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) said, “Modi and his Japanese counterparts Shigeru Ishiba, will review the strategic and global partnership between Ishiba, India and Japan. Apart from this, Modi and Ishiba will discuss the cooperation between the two Prime Ministers and the issues of regional and global importance between the two Prime Ministers.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “This journey will further confirm the long -term special bond of friendship between the two countries.”

PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with many leaders in China

At the same time, in the second phase of his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China from August 31 to September 1 on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He will attend the SCO summit to be held in the Chinese city of Tianjin on 31 August and 1 September.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, “On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Modi is likely to have bilateral meetings with many Chinese leaders.”
