Senior IPS officer Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh was appointed as the new Prison Director (DG PRISONS) of Delhi on Saturday (23 August). Singh had earlier handled the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs on 31 July.

Singh, a 1988 batch AGMUT cadre officer, has worked in many important positions in the 36 -year career. He led high-profile investigations like gift cinema fire and Ponty Chadha murder case.

Appointment after attack on Delhi CM

On Thursday, 1992 batch IPS officer Satish Golcha was appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner, who was the first DG (prizes). He did SBK In place of Singh, he took over this responsibility, who took charge of Delhi Police Commissioner for only 21 days. Golcha was appointed on the next day of the attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

However, officials say that this transferred is not associated with the attack. Along with this, two other senior officials were also transferred. Virendra Singh Chahal, a 1991 batch IPS officer, was made DG (Civil Defense) and Nuzhat Hussain as DG (Home Guards).

Achievements of Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh so far

Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh worked in many important positions of Delhi Police in his career. According to PTI, he took charge of ACP Karol Bagh, Additional DCP South and DCP North-East and Central districts.

He led the Economic Offenses Branch and also worked in the posts of Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Special Police Commissioner (Law and Order, Security, Intelligence).

He investigated the gift fire, Ponty Chadha murder case, and complex land scam cases. Singh promoted technological innovations and developed a web-based system for the ‘Lost Report’ mobile app and police clearance certificate.

He has also played an important role in North-East

His tenure was also notable as Mizoram and Police Head of Arunachal Pradesh. In Mizoram, she introduced the first woman police station, tourist police unit and e-challan system.

In Arunachal Pradesh, he launched ‘Arunachal Security’ mobile app and online complaint portal. Apart from this, he promoted more than 1500 constables as honorary head constables.

Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh has been awarded the President’s Police Medal, Police Medal for Meritorious Service and National E-Governance Silver Medal.
