‘I have read about it’, Trump made Sergio Gore India’s ambassador to S. Jaishankar’s first reaction

America has appointed its new ambassador to India. President Donald Trump has entrusted this responsibility to his close aide Sergio Gore. The Government of India has welcomed this decision, although there has not been much response from India.

Foreign Minister S. When Jaishankar was asked about the new US ambassador in an event, he said that ‘I have read about it’. This announcement has been made about seven months after Trump became President. Experts believe that this is a positive sign for India and it makes it clear that America wants to further strengthen relations with India.

The appointment of Sergio Gore has not yet been approved by the Senate

The approval of the US Senate is yet to be received on the appointment of Sergio Gore. Although Gore is considered to be special of Trump, it is expected that they will open the way for open talks between the two countries. Direct discussion will be possible on important issues like trade, trump’s stance on Pakistan, immigration and India’s relations with Russia. According to reports, Trump may come to India for the Quad Summit in November. However, threats to impose additional tariffs on India can also cause sourness in relations.

Gore became special messengers of South and Central Asia

Sergio Gore has also been created for South and Central Asia. There have been some concerns on this that America may try to interfere more in India-Pakistan affairs. India has not given any major response to this issue. Foreign Minister Jaishankar avoided comment on this, while the rest of the officials are also waiting that more information came out about the role of Gore.

What are the pyre of India?

India’s biggest concern is that America keeps India and Pakistan equal. India says that by doing this, the difference between the attacker and the victim disappears. Especially in April, India has become more alert in this matter after the Pahalgam terror attack and then Operation Sindoor.

Trump’s arbitration claims and India’s response

Trump has claimed many times that he got a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly told Trump that there is no trade agreement or arbitration between Indo-US. Jaishankar also said that this agreement was made through direct talks between India and Pakistan.

What is India’s stance on mediation with Pakistan?

India has already opposed the US efforts to mediate on the Kashmir issue. In 2009, the Government of India forced the Obama administration to back down, when Richard Halbrook was made the messenger for the Af-Pak region. India does not want America to use Gore to impose such issues on it, which can be solved only by bilateral dialogue of India and Pakistan.

Jaishankar clearly said that for the last 50 years, India’s national consensus is that no arbitration will be accepted in its relations with Pakistan. India wants America to have good relations with it, but respect its boundaries and policies.
