IVF (in vitro fertilization) ie test tube is a great news for women who want to become a mother with the help of baby. Scientists at King’s College, London saw in new research that if 35 to 42 years of women get a special test of fetus before getting IVF, then the chances of becoming a mother may increase. This test is called PGT-A (Preymplantation Genetic Testing for Anemuploid), which conducts its genetic test before putting the fetus into the uterus. Let’s know how it works and why is it so special?
What is PGT-A Test?
When a woman wants to have a child through IVF, the fetus is prepared in the lab and put into the uterus. However, sometimes the disturbances of chromosomes in the fetus are not conceived or miscarried. Especially in women above 35 years of age, this problem is seen more. The fetus is examined in the PGT-A test, so that it can be ascertained whether chromosomes are correct in it. If there is no disturbance in the fetus, it is inserted into the uterus, which increases the chances of conception.
What was found in research?
Scientists at King’s College London included 100 women in this research. Of these, 50 women got IVF with PGT-A Test, while the remaining 50 got IVF in normal way. Among the women who conducted PGT-A test, 72% gave birth to healthy baby. At the same time, this figure was only 52 % of women who have done IVF in the normal way. Apart from this, women conducting PGT-A test needed to transfer fetus less often. Due to this, the stress of his time left and repeated failure also reduced. This is a matter of relief for those women who have been trying to become a mother for a long time.
Why this test is so important?
In women above 35 years of age, the possibility of disturbances of chromosomes in the fetus increases. Because of this, many times there is no pregnancy or there is a risk of miscarriage. Dr. Yusuf Bibijoun of Kings College says that nowadays many women plan to start a family at the age of 35 years, but at this age there is a high risk of chromosomes problem in the fetus. This makes it difficult to conceive. Our research shows that more women can become a mother quickly than using PGT-A test properly.
