Actress Hema Malini has worked in more than one films. Basanti’s character in his film Sholay has become an iconic. Now the actress has talked about Basanti’s character and her nature.
Hema was asked if Bansati’s character was the most talking girl in Sholay. So in response to this, Hema said, ‘I think she was the most speaking girl of Indian cinema. How much she speaks I had only one concern that Basanti should not be irritating anywhere. I was afraid that his bank should not bother people. But people liked him. I think people liked that she always spoke. Especially the way she stood in front of Gabbar.

In a conversation with the Times of India, Hema then told about her nature and said, ‘I am completely different from Basanti. I am very reserved. When I was young, I was very silent. I used to speak less on the set. Many of my heroes used to think that I am Arogant. But the truth was that I was very shy. Why to speak without meaning? That is why I chose silence.
How was Hema’s bond on the set with Dharmendra?
When asked if you used to keep quiet while working with Dharamji? In response, he laughed and said- talk with Dharam ji was different. We had a lot to say to each other. Because we used to meet barely outside the shooting.
