There was a time when mobile companies used to try to give more and more cameras in their smartphones. Many companies including Samsung launched smartphones with four cameras. It became a trend in view and the companies attracted a lot of customers with them. Now this trend seems to be decreasing and now fewer cameras are being given in smartphones than before. This thing has come out in a research.
The average of continuously decreasing
Market tracker Oldia’s latest report has revealed that the phone sold in the second quarter of 2025 had an average of 3.19 cameras in the rear and front. It was average 3.37 a year ago. After peak in early 2021, it was the 13th consecutive such quarter, in which it has been reduced average. The biggest reason for the decline in average is the low number of rear cameras. Companies were already giving a lens in the front and still getting the same lens.
Dual camera setup is becoming a new trend
Now once again the dual camera setup is coming in trend. In the last quarter shipment, 41 percent of the smartphones were two camera lenses, while the phone with triple camera setup was 36 percent and the phone with single camera was 21 percent. Apple launched the iPhone 16E with a single camera this year. In September, the company will launch the iPhone 17 air model, in which singer rear camera will be available.
Most smartphones are getting 50MP lenses
The OMDIA report shows that 58 percent of the previous quarter’s shipment had a 50MP camera, while a smartphone with more than 100MP camera was 9 percent. Cameras of less than 15MP in smartphones are continuously decreasing. Five years ago, his stake was more than 50 percent, which has now come down to 12 percent.
