Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the second ODI. With this, Sri Lanka has won the two-match ODI series 2–0. This series win before the Asia Cup will increase morale for Sri Lanka. In the second ODI, Zimbabwe scored a score of 277 runs while playing first. In response, Sri Lanka won the match by 5 wickets in the match which lasted till the last over. Pathum Nissanka Century proved to be very helpful in this victory of Sri Lanka.
Series won before Asia Cup
The Asia Cup is going to start from September 9, a tournament that Sri Lanka has won 6 times. Talking about the ODI series against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka won the first match by a close margin of 7 runs. Now he has won the second match by 5 wickets.
Chasing a target of 278 runs in the second match, Sri Lanka did not have a good start as opener Nuvanidu Fernando was dismissed for just 14 runs and Kusal Mendis also scored 5 runs. At the other end, Nisanka stood at the other end and in association with Sadira Samaravikrama, a 78 -run partnership was returned to Sri Lanka. The rest of the work was done by Nisanka and captain Charith Asalanka’s 90 -run partnership. Pathum Nisanka played a brilliant innings of 122 runs, while Asalanka contributed 71 runs. Dushmanta Chamira also made a big contribution to Sri Lanka’s victory, who took 3 wickets.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin from 9 September, which will be played in T20 format. Let us know that Sri Lanka has won the ODI series 2–0, after which a 3-match T20 series is also to be played between the two teams, which will conclude on 7 September.
