Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the second ODI. With this, Sri Lanka has won the two-match ODI series 2–0. This series win before the Asia Cup will increase morale for Sri Lanka. In the second ODI, Zimbabwe scored a score of 277 runs while playing first. In response, Sri Lanka won the match by 5 wickets in the match which lasted till the last over. Series won before Asia Cup
The Asia Cup is going to start from September 9, a tournament that Sri Lanka has won 6 times. Talking about the ODI series against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka won the first match by a close margin of 7 runs. Now he has won the second match by 5 wickets.
Chasing a target of 278 runs in the second match, Sri Lanka did not have a good start as opener Nuvanidu Fernando was dismissed for just 14 runs and Kusal Mendis also scored 5 runs. At the other end, Nisanka stood at the other end and in association with Sadira Samaravikrama, a 78 -run partnership was returned to Sri Lanka. The rest of the work was done by Nisanka and captain Charith Asalanka’s 90 -run partnership. Pathum Nisanka played a brilliant innings of 122 runs, while Asalanka contributed 71 runs. Dushmanta Chamira also made a big contribution to Sri Lanka’s victory, who took 3 wickets.
