Nirmala sitharaman on buying russian oil: America is constantly pressurizing India not to buy Russian oil. For this, 25 percent extra tariff was also imposed on Indian goods as a penalty. With this, the tariff on India has increased to 50 percent. Amidst all this, a big statement of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has come out. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Friday that India will continue to buy crude oil from Russia. He also said that the decisions taken on energy are completely based on national interest.
India will decide according to its needs
In an interview to News18, Nirmala Sitharaman said, “India will continue to buy oil from Russia. We have to decide according to our needs where to buy the oil. This decision will be taken on the basis of the interest of the country. “He further said,” Whether it is to buy oil from Russia or something else … We will take a decision according to our needs regarding rates, logistics and many other things. Buying oil is a matter of foreign currency, so we will take the decision at our convenience. We will undoubtedly keep buying oil from Russia. ”The Finance Minister said that India spends the most on crude oil imports.
America accused India
The Finance Minister’s statement came at a time when US President Donald Trump is accusing Ukraine of promoting Russian war by purchasing oil from Russia. In view of this, the US imposed 50 percent tariff on Indian goods from August 27 and also warned of additional restrictions in the coming months.
Trump, who took over as President in January this year, threatened to put ‘Phase-2’ and ‘Phase-3’ tariffs against the countries doing business with Russia. Describing India as the second largest buyer of Russian oil after China, he had said that if India continues to import oil from Russia, it will have to pay penalty. Reacting to all these things, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the improvement in GST rates will help reduce tariff pressure.
