The day the Asia Cup 2025 schedule was released, there has been a ruckus at the India-Pakistan match. In the Asia Cup, the ‘Mahabhodhanta’ of both teams is to be held on 14 September. A campaign has been sparked all over India to cancel this match. Political parties are also opposing this. In such a situation, the question is whether the decision to cancel this match is in the hands of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Will BCCI can cancel India-Pak match?
No, the decision to cancel the India-Pakistan match is not in the hands of the BCCI. In this regard, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia himself issued a statement that the board will follow the decision that the Government of India will take on the Asia Cup.
At the same time, the Government of India implemented a new policy on playing any match with Pakistan. It was told in that policy that the Indian team will play with Pakistan in multilateral tournaments, but no bilateral series will be played with it. Anurag Thakur of BJP has also repeated this. The decision to cancel the Asia Cup match is completely in the hands of the Government of India.
The opposition has also taken a dig at the Central Government on the India-Pakistan match. At the same time, a petition was also filed in the Supreme Court to cancel the match, but the High Court had rejected the petition of the law students. The petition said that a few days after the Pahalgam attack, playing matches with Pakistan, people who lost their lives and martyred Indian soldiers would be equal.
Let us tell you that the Indo-Pak match will be played at Dubai International Stadium on 14 September. This match will be broadcast live from 8 pm Indian time.
