Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will meet US President Donald Trump with some Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Pakistan’s Foreign Office made this announcement on Sunday (September 21, 2025).

The office said in a statement that Sharif will travel to the US from 22 to 26 September with a delegation to participate in the 80th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The statement said that the delegation of Sharif will include External Affairs Minister Ishaq Dar, other ministers and senior officials.

It said, “The Prime Minister will also participate in a meeting of selected Islamic leaders with US President Trump to exchange views on issues related to regional and international peace and security.” According to the statement, in his address to the General Assembly, Sharif will urge the international community to resolve the pending issues for a long time.

It states that Sharif will attract the attention of the international community, especially in the Gaza Strip and will call for decisive action to end the suffering of Palestinians. According to the statement, Sharif will also highlight Pakistan’s views on regional security situation as well as other issues of international concern including climate change, terrorism, ‘Islamophobia’ and sustainable development.

Special high level programs on climate action include

It states that the Prime Minister will participate in several high level programs during the United Nations General Assembly session, including important meetings of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), a high -level meeting of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and a special high -level program on climate action, etc.

It has been said in the statement that Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with many world leaders and senior officers of the United Nations to exchange ideas on issues of mutual interest. It states that the Prime Minister will also underline Islamabad’s resolve to maintain the United Nations Charter, prevent struggle, promote peace and promote global prosperity in Pakistan’s current role as a member of the Security Council.

The statement said, “The Prime Minister’s participation in this largest annual meeting of world leaders will showcase multilateralism and Pakistan’s strong commitment to the United Nations, highlighting the country’s long -term contribution to the shared objectives of peace and development.”
