These cases were registered under several allegations such as fraud and encroachment in March 2017 after the arrival of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh.
These cases are registered against Azam Khan
- According to the report of land occupation and fraud – India Today, Azam Khan and his associates are accused of cheating a farmer and occupying the land. Azam and his colleagues fraudulently signed the land papers. After this, the campus of Mohammad Ali Johar University was extended.
- Fake birth certificate case – Azam, his wife Tanzin Fatima and son are accused of making two birth certificates of the son. He has been convicted in this case.
- Azam and his associates were accused of vandalizing and attacking a house in 2016 in 2016. In this case, he was sentenced to 7 years and a fine of Rs 8 lakh.
- Goat theft case – The case is of 2019. Azam Khan is accused that he had broken the house of a person living in the Yatimkhana area and stole his goats and animals.
Why Azam’s release was delayed
Azam Khan’s release was to be held on Tuesday morning, but the process of release stopped due to fault in his address in Bell Bond. After this, the process of release of Azam Khan was completed on Tuesday afternoon and he rode in the car and came out of the jail premises amidst tight security. During this time, there was enthusiasm among Samajwadi Party workers and supporters outside the jail.
