Former wicketkeeper batsman of the Indian cricket team, Dinesh Karthik, who has retired from international cricket, will once again be seen in Blue Jersey. Dinesh Karthik has been made the captain of Team India for the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. The organizers of the tournament themselves gave this information on Tuesday.

The Hong Kong Sixes tournament will be played from 7 November this year. The Indian team has not been announced for the tournament yet. The organizers have announced only the captain. Earlier it was reported that Dinesh Karthik will be the captain of India in this tournament. Now the organizers have also confirmed it.

Dinesh Karthik’s first reaction after getting captaincy

After getting the captaincy, Dinesh Karthik said, “It is a matter of pride to handle Team India captaincy in Hong Kong Sixes. I am waiting to play with such good players. We will play fearless and entertaining cricket.”

Cricket Hong Kong China President Burji Shroff said, “We are thrilled by making Dinesh Karthik the captain of Team India for Hong Kong Sixes 2025. His captaincy and immense experience will be very useful for the team and we are sure that his presence will be the center of attraction for the audience.”

Dinesh Karthik, who made his last international debut in international cricket for India in 2004, played his last international match in 2022. Dinesh Karthik played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 60 T20 International matches for India. In the Test, Karthik has 1025 runs, 1752 runs in ODIs and 686 runs in T20 International. He also played 257 IPL matches. During this, he scored 4842 runs.

Dinesh Karthik played for many teams continuously since IPL 2008. He played his last match in the IPL in 2024. Dinesh Karthik also played in South Africa’s SAT20 League last year. In this league, he also played many useful innings with the bat.
