India extends ban on pak airlines: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India not only retaliated by running ‘Operation Sindoor’ and broke the back of the terrorists, but also taught a strong lesson to the neighboring country of Pakistan. India not only gave a befitting reply on the military front, but also hurt Pakistan’s economy. Now once again, India has taken counter action and has increased the ban on Pakistan Airlines in its aircraft for a month to the morning of 24 October.
Closed aircraft for Pakistan
This decision was taken on Monday in the NOTAM issued by the Indian Aviation Authorities. This step of India has come at a time when Pakistan issued a notice to keep the aircraft closure for the Indian Airlines for the same period. In this way, it has been almost six months when both countries have closed each other’s aircraft.
Ban started from 24 April
Significantly, after the Pahalgam terror attack in April, the relationship between New Delhi and Islamabad got worse. After this, Pakistan banned Indian aircraft in its aircraft, in response to which India also banned Pakistan Airlines. Since then, both countries have been increasing this ban by issuing demonetisation. However, this ban is only on the airlines of India and Pakistan, the airlines of the rest of the countries are allowed to use the aircraft of both countries.
Effect on 800 weekly flights
Around 800 weekend flights of India are being affected by Pakistan’s aerpace closure. These include flights from India to West Asia, Europe, UK and North America, which now have to go a long way. According to aviation analytics company Sirikam, only six flights of Pakistan Airlines (Lahore and Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur) used Indian aircraft.
But the situation is far more challenging for Indian airlines. Air India flights go to West Asia, Europe, North America and UK. Indigo flights operate from India to West Asia, Türkiye and Central Asia. Due to the shutdown of Pakistan’s aircraft, these airlines either have to take a long route or some flights have to be closed temporarily.
