The rain is wreaking havoc in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. A total of 10 people have died in different areas of Kolkata, North Pargana and Southern Pargana due to fierce rain, current and waterlogging incidents.
At the same time, waterlogging has been created in many places including Beniappukur, Kalikapur, Netaji Nagar, Gariahat and Iqbalpur in West Bengal. The metro service stalled due to heavy rains started on Tuesday (September 23, 2025) at 6 pm.
Flights of aircraft affected due to heavy rains
At the same time, due to heavy rains, the situation of Kolkata Airport is also in bad shape. According to the information, 57 flights were canceled due to heavy rains and thunderstorms, out of which 29 flights were scheduled to leave from Kolkata Airport and 28 flights were of Arai. While the flight of 31 flights was lying down. Meanwhile, Air India and IndiGo have also issued advisory for passengers.
KMC gave information about rain situation in the capital
According to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), the intensity of rain was more in the southern and eastern parts of the city. Garia Kamdhari received 332 mm of rain in a few hours, while Jodhpur Park recorded 285 mm of rain. Kalighat received 280 mm, Tourcia 275 mm, Balliganj 264 mm, while Tantania in Northern Kolkata received 195 mm of rain.

Air India and Indigo Airline released advisory
Some flights flying from Kolkata may be canceled. Air India issued advisory for passengers and said that many flights will be affected due to heavy rains. He has advised the passengers to check the status of the flight before leaving the house. There itself, IndiGo has said that some Kolkata flights have been diverted.
