The new Chief Secretary of Jharkhand has been made Avinash Kumar, an IAS of 1993 batch. Along with this, he has also been given additional charge of many other important posts. The Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Official Language of the state government issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday (September 30) in the evening.
According to the notification issued by the government, Avinash Kumar will also have an additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and the Chief Local Commissioner of Jharkhand Bhavan in New Delhi. Prior to this, he also had the charge of Development Commissioner, Chairman of Jharkhand Energy Development Corporation Limited and Managing Director of Managing Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited.
Alka Tiwari will take place
According to the notification, Ajay Kumar Singh, working on the post of Additional Chief Secretary of State Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, has been given additional charge of Development Commissioner till further order. Alka Tiwari, a 1988 batch IAS officer of IAS Avinash Kumar, was working as the Chief Secretary of the state. The last date of his tenure is 30 September. He held the post of Chief Secretary on 1 November 2024.
Avinash Kumar is at this number in preference
After Alka Tiwari, Shailesh Kumar Singh tops the preference list of IAS officers in the state. He is a 1991 batch IAS officer, but he is currently working as Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development on Union deputation. After him, IAS Nidhi Khare, a 1992 batch IAS Nidhi Khare, who was second in the preference list, is currently on central deputation. Avinash Kumar is at number three in this list.
After the retirement of Alka Tiwari, 1995 batch IAS Ajay Kumar Singh, Satyendra Singh and Nitin Madan Kulkarni are also considered to be included in the race for this post. The three officers are working as Additional Chief Secretary.
