India-Bhutan Railway Connectivity will open the way for tourism and business. Paisa Live

Railway Connectivity is going to begin for the first time between India and Bhutan, which is a historic step for both countries. Two new rail lines will be laid from Kokrajhar in Assam to Gallefu in Bhutan and Banarhat in West Bengal to Samatse of Bhutan. Earlier, there was a train service to Hasimara in West Bengal, but now the train will go directly to Galifu, Bhutan. A total of 89 km project will be invested ₹ 4,033 crore. The scheme will not only promote tourism, but will also give Bhutan its first Railway Connectivity. The export of Bhutanese products such as Hydropower, agricultural products and handicrafts to Indian markets will also be better. Also, this connectivity will play an important role in giving a new look to political and economic relations in South Asia. India is expanding Rail Network in neighboring countries to strengthen its strategic position amidst China’s increasing activism in Bhutan. The Agartala-Akhaura railroad between India and Bangladesh is almost ready, while efforts are on to connect Myanmar and Thailand. These efforts will help in creating new business and political relations in South Asia.
