If the cash payments on the toll are shock, not Fastag, then know the new rule of the government

New toll rule 2025: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has changed the rules of toll waste on the National Highway. Under the new rules, if no one has valid and current fastag and pays online toll, then he will have to pay 1.25 times. Earlier this amount was doubled. It has been informed by the ministry that the new rules will be applicable in the entire country from 15 November 2025. The aim behind this change is to reduce cash transactions and promote digital payment.

Your money will be avoided by making UPI payment

While traveling on the National Highway from 15 November 2025, if you do not have valid and current fastag, then you can save money by making online payment. On digitally payment, you will have to pay a quarter and a half times as compared to regular tolls. If you pay toll in cash, then you have to pay double the amount.

For example, if the toll of a fastag vehicle on the national highway is Rs 100, then it has been fixed at Rs 200 for a vehicle without fastag. That is, vehicles without fastag have to give double toll. Under the new rules, those making online payment will have to pay only 125 rupees instead of 200 from November 15. Which will save 75 rupees. However, there is no change in the rules for cash payments. They will have to pay double the same as before the fastags.

A notification issued by the Ministry on 4 October 2025 was informed about this change. With these changes, toll collections will be improved through technology. It will also help in reducing the congestion on the toll. Which will make it easier to travel on the National Highway. This decision has been taken as part of an attempt to make the journey comfortable on the National Highway.

Important changes have been made earlier also

Changes were made by the government for the passengers traveling on the National Highway. The annual pass facility was also started from 15 August 2025. Under Fastag Annual Pass, passengers can avail the benefit of year or 200 free trips (which are completed earlier). For this facility, they have to pay 3000 rupees. However, this pass was started for non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans and is currently valid for selected National Highway and Expressway.
