Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that Bihar assembly elections will be held in 2 phases. The first phase will be held on 6 November and the second phase on 11 November. Votes will be counted on 14 November. The election process will last 40 days.
Last date of nomination
Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar said that the gadget notification of the first phase election will be released on October 10 and the second phase on 13 October. The last date of nomination of the first phase will be October 17 and the second will be 30 October. The date of scrutiny will be 18 and 21 October. The withdrawal of nominations has been fixed at 20 and 23 October. According to him, the total number of voters in the state is 7.42 crore, out of which male voters are 3.92 crore and female voters are 3.50 crore. Kumar said that 14 lakh voters will be able to vote for the first time in Bihar assembly elections.
Current assembly term till 22 November
The term of the current assembly of Bihar ends on 22 November. Political parties had urged the Election Commission to hold elections immediately after the Chhath festival in late October, so that more and more voters’ participation could be ensured, as a large number of people working outside the state return home for festivals during that time. The 2020 assembly elections in the state were held in three phases in the backdrop of Kovid-19 epidemic.

The Election Commission has also announced the date of by -election in 8 assembly seats in 7 states. Voting of these elections will be cast on November 11, 2025. The seats that will be by-elections include Anta of Rajasthan, Badgam of Jammu and Kashmir, Tarn Taran of Punjab, Ghatshila of Jharkhand, Jubilee Hills in Telangana, Dapa of Mizoram and Nuapada seat of Odisha. The results of the election on these seats will also come only on 14 November.
