Pakistan expressed protest
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana Khan expressed displeasure over the decision after the match. He said that Muniba was not even trying to take runs and her bat was already in the crease. On social media too, many Pakistani fans questioned the umpiring and accused India of “unfair play”.
MCC gave a clear answer
Now MCC has given its opinion on this matter. MCC said that the decision of the third umpire was completely correct and was not against the rules in any way. MCC, citing Rule 30.1.2, said that if the batsman reaches the crease while running or dive and contacts for a while, he is not given out, but this rule is applied only in the situations when the batsman is running or diving “.
Muniba Ali was neither running nor diving at that time. She had just moved forward and her bat was in the air at the time of the ball. Therefore, the rule of “bounced bat” does not apply to them.
India has no charge
In this way, after the clarification of MCC, it is now clear that India or Deepti Sharma did not commit any kind of dishonesty. The third umpire gave the right decision under the rules and now the dispute has come to a complete halt.
