Bihar Elections 2025: BJP’s internal dissatisfaction will upset NDA in Bihar elections! How will the NDA be able to overcome these dangers?

With the announcement of the dates of Bihar assembly elections on Monday by the Election Commission, a direct contest has been decided between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition ‘India’ alliance in the state.

While the NDA is expecting another term under the leadership of Janata Dal (United) President and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the India alliance, which meets the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and other opposition parties, is to eviction of NDA from power.

Here an SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities, danger) has been analyzed for NDA under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.

What is the strength of NDA in Bihar?

Political analysts believe that Nitish Kumar is the strongest pillar of NDA as the Chief Minister and the alliance under his leadership has an edge at many levels. Nitish Kumar, who was the longest Chief Minister of the state, has made his mark through a series of administrative stability and welfare schemes under the rule of almost two decades. Among them, free electricity to domestic consumers up to 125 units, supply of drinking water in rural areas and promise of generating one crore jobs in the next five years are promise.

Political critics say that the image of Nitish Kumar’s ‘good governance’, organized cadre network of BJP and JDU and infrastructure projects launched in the state by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are the major strengths of NDA. Schemes like increase in social security pension and financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to 75 lakh women are also considered popular among voters.

Will these weaknesses of NDA upset?

However, due to being in power for almost two decades (2005-2010), the freshness of Nitish Kumar’s early tenure has now reduced. The anti -incumbency wave can become a major challenge this time.

Apart from this, there is a belief about the social base of the BJP that it is still a party of forward castes, whose population is only about 10 percent of the total population of the state.

These opportunities are for NDA

Political observers believe that the lack of leadership of the second line in JDU after Nitish Kumar’s political extreme period creates an opportunity for BJP to make organizational expansion and place in leadership.

Also, NDA can also get the direct benefit of Prime Minister Modi’s popularity and central government schemes.

These are the danger to NDA?

There is increasing dissatisfaction with other leaders from other parties within the BJP, which is being seen as a ‘pollution effect’ for the party. At the same time, ‘High Command Culture’, which was earlier connected to Congress, is now being felt in BJP.

In addition, excessive dependence on ‘Hindutva’ ideology can remove Muslim voters, especially the Pasmanda community, which was kept by Nitish Kumar’s social balance politics till now.

Political analysts believe that in the upcoming assembly elections, while the opposition is making an issue of inflation, unemployment and social inequality, the NDA is working on a strategy to seek support from the public on its theme of ‘development and stable governance’.
