Former minister Murari Prasad Gautam resigned from the post of MLA before the Bihar Assembly elections on Wednesday (October 08, 2025). According to sources, speculations about his joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are intense.
A notification issued by the Bihar Assembly Secretariat said, “The reserved Chenari assembly seat of Rohtas district has become vacant due to the resignation of MLA Murari Prasad Gautam.” Gautam told PTI, “There is no specific reason behind resigning from the assembly membership. I have simply resigned.”
Murari Prasad was a minister in the grand alliance government.
Gautam had reached the assembly on Congress ticket. He was a minister in the Grand Alliance government, but when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar once again joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Gautam started sitting in the camp of the ruling party. After this, Congress had demanded cancellation of his assembly membership. His disqualification case is pending before Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav. Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14.
Will I be able to get a ticket from BJP?
Murari Prasad Gautam has resigned at a time when elections are to be held in Bihar. The biggest question is that if he joins BJP, will the party give him a chance this time? This will be something to see. Murari Prasad Gautam has been the MLA from Chenari, so it can be assumed that he will get the ticket from BJP. On the other hand, if we look at the social media page of Prasad Gautam, it is clearly visible that he has made up his mind to join BJP. The profile photo on Facebook is related to Narendra Modi. There is also a picture with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
