In a home match played two years ago, this 21 year old player had scored 48 runs in just 6 balls. He did this feat in the Kabul Premier League, which attracted the attention of the whole world towards him.
7 sixes, 48 runs in one over
This surprising record is of the match played between Shaheen Hunters and Abasin Defenders. Playing for Shaheen Hunters, captain Sediqullah Atal batted brilliantly in the 19th over. Defenders bowler Aamir Zazai was bowling that over.
The first ball of the over was a no-ball and Atal hit a six on it. After this, Jazai bowled five consecutive wide balls, on which free-hits were kept and Atal capitalized on every opportunity. He again hit a six on the free-hit and then sent the next five balls out of the field.
In this way, he scored a total of 48 runs by hitting 7 sixes in a single over, which till date is a unique record at any level in the history of cricket.

This over was no less than a nightmare for Aamir Zazai. He spent 79 runs in his four overs and took only one wicket. Thanks to his beating, Shaheen Hunters scored 213 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Abasin Defenders was all out for 121 runs in 18.3 overs and Hunters won the match by 92 runs.
Atal’s explosive innings
Sediqullah Atal had scored 118 runs in 56 balls in that match, which included 7 fours and 10 sixes. He completed his century in just 48 balls. At that time he was only 21 years old and this innings became the hallmark of his career.

Sediqullah Atal has so far played 1 Test, 9 ODI and 19 T20 International matches for Afghanistan. He has one century and two half-centuries to his name in ODI, while in T20 he has scored 402 runs. He is counted among the emerging opening batsmen of Afghanistan.
