FIR has been registered in IPS Y Puran suicide case. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered. His IAS wife Amneet P Kumar had filed a complaint. Chandigarh Police said that a case has been registered against the people whose names were in the ‘final note’ of IPS. A case has also been registered under SC-ST Atrocities Act.

Y Puran Kumar was a 2001 batch IPS officer. He was found dead in his residence in Sector-11, Chandigarh on Tuesday (07 October). There were bullet marks on his body. He had reportedly committed suicide with a service revolver. Police had also found an 8-page suicide note, in which he had written the names of several senior officers and accused them of mental harassment.

On the other hand, Congress has demanded an impartial investigation into the suicide case of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleged that the hatred and Manuwadi thinking of BJP-RSS has filled the society with poison. He said, “The suicide of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar ji is a symbol of the deepening social poison which is crushing humanity in the name of caste.”

Bhupendra Singh Hooda demanded fair investigation

Leader of Opposition in Haryana and former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda expressed grief over the suicide of IPS Y Puran Kumar. He wrote on social media, “Haryana’s senior IPS Y. The case of Puran Kumar’s suicide is very sad. There should be a fair investigation, so that no guilty person is spared and no innocent person is harmed. It is the responsibility of the state government to ensure justice in this matter. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in this difficult time.
