The Asia Cup trophy controversy has once again come into discussion. After India’s victory in the final, Asian Cricket Council Chairman and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took the trophy with him. There doesn’t seem to be any signs of improvement in Naqvi’s situation, now he has issued a new order. Let us tell you that the Asia Cup trophy is still kept in the ACC office in Dubai, Naqvi says that the trophy will not be given to anyone without his permission.
Quoting news agency PTI, sources said, “At present, the trophy is kept in the ACC office in Dubai. Mohsin Naqvi has issued a clear order that with his permission and in his absence, the trophy will not be given to anyone, let alone be moved from its place. Naqvi has issued a new order saying that the trophy will be handed over to the Indian cricket team or BCCI only in their hands.”
On September 28, India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Asia Cup final. After winning the final, Team India refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. Due to this, the post-match presentation started late, but the Indian team could not get the trophy because Mohsin Naqvi had taken the trophy with him.
The issue will be raised in the ICC meeting
If reports are to be believed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to raise this issue in the ICC board meeting. In this meeting, there can be a demand to condemn Mohsin Naqvi or remove him from the post of ICC Director.
Earlier, in the Asian Cricket Council meeting, India’s representative Rajiv Shukla had scolded Mohsin Naqvi. Shukla had said that Mohsin Naqvi had no right to take the trophy with him, because this trophy is not anyone’s personal property but is the property of ACC.
