India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak denied that there is any pressure on Rohit Sharma from the team management. Rohit could not perform well in the first two ODI matches against England. A report in ‘Indian Express’ on Thursday claimed that the selectors have told the former Indian captain that he is no longer part of the plans for the 2027 World Cup. The report also says that 39-year-old Rohit can say goodbye to his international career and play his last match for the ‘Men in Blue’ on Sunday at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
However, Kotak denied that there was any pressure on Rohit. He said that there can never be pressure on a big player like him. Supporting the captain who will win the 2024 T20 World Cup, he said that it does not matter that he did not score runs in the first two matches against England.

In the press conference after the match, Kotak said, “Look, I don’t think there can be any kind of pressure on a big player like Rohit Sharma. He is such a good player that he will not feel that. Yes, he could not score runs in the first two matches, but I don’t think it makes any difference but today it seemed that he would probably play a good innings. But that’s okay.”
The Indian support staff member also denied that Rohit was struggling in the second ODI. He said that the batsman did not get balls of his desired length, hence his strike rate was not as expected.
Kotak said, “Look, to be honest, I have played a lot of cricket and have also seen a lot of cricket. Many times it happens that batsmen do not get the momentum they are looking for and this can happen. It is possible that at Lord’s you will get to see a completely different kind of innings from Rohit Sharma.”
In the second ODI played in Cardiff, in which India lost by four wickets, Rohit faced 47 balls and scored 26 runs. The experienced batsman failed to rotate the strike and ultimately became the victim of Will Jacques. Earlier, he had scored only 11 runs in the opening ODI match played at Edgbaston.
