Encounter took place in Harauni area

DCP South Nipun Aggarwal said that yesterday at around 5 pm, Banthara police received information that a gang rape had taken place. On the complaint of the victim’s father, an FIR was registered against the accused and teams were formed to arrest them. Late last night, when the police were checking at Harauni railway station, two people riding a bike were asked to stop, but they tried to flee from the spot and opened fire on the police. In retaliation, when the police opened fire, one person was injured. He has been taken to the hospital.

The injured, Lalit Kashyap, is an accused in the gang rape case, while the other person fled from the scene. We are searching for him. Another police team has arrested the third accused involved in the gang rape incident. Further investigation is ongoing.

What was the whole matter?

Let us tell you that at around 12 noon on Saturday, the minor student of Banthara area had left home to meet her sister. A friend was with him on the way. Then some youths beat up the friend, chased him away and took the student to a deserted place. In an intoxicated state, accused Vishal Gupta, Rajendra Kashyap alias Babu, Meraj, Lalit Kashyap and Shiv Kashyap gang-raped her. When the victim returned home at around 5 pm and informed the family.

On the complaint of the victim, Banthara police station immediately registered a registered case (U.S. No. 350/2025) under sections 70(2), 351(3) BNS and 5g/6 POCSO Act. And his medical was done.
