It will now become easier for Indian students to obtain a foreign degree. A big announcement regarding education has been made in the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Britain. Under this, now top universities of UK will start their campuses in India. Gurugram Campus of Southampton University is already functioning and now 8-9 more new campuses will be opened from 2026. These include major cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Gurgaon. For example – University of Liverpool in Bengaluru. Campuses of University of York, Aberdeen and Bristol can open in Mumbai. This scheme is being implemented under NEP 2020 i.e. New Education Policy. While there are more than 4 crore students in higher education in India, 7 crore seats will be needed by 2035. In such a situation, these campuses will prove to be a big gamechanger for the students and will take India’s education infrastructure, quality and content to new heights.
