Century in test for the first time
John Campbell, who was out after scoring only 10 runs in the first innings, batted in a completely different style in the second innings. He faced the Indian bowlers bravely and completed his century in 175 balls, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes.
His innings helped West Indies, who were playing follow-on, to reduce India’s huge lead. While West Indies were all out for 248 in the first innings, Campbell’s century in the second innings brought the team back into the match.
Shai Hope became a strong partner
Campbell got excellent support from wicketkeeper batsman Shai Hope in this important innings. There was a partnership of more than 150 runs between the two which spoiled the rhythm of India.
Shai Hope also showed great composure and completed his half-century. Both the batsmen made the Indian bowlers yearn for wickets on the third day. Their partnership gave a strong foundation to the West Indies innings and made the match exciting.
Batsmen shine in India’s first innings
Earlier, Team India had declared its innings by scoring 518 runs in the first innings, showing its batting power. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant century. At the same time, captain Shubman Gill also scored a wonderful century. Apart from these, Sai Sudarshan (87), Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) and Dhruv Jurel (44) also made important contributions with the bat.
