Who did Congress make its candidate?
The ruling Congress has declared V. Naveen Yadav as its candidate for the by-election. 41-year-old Naveen Yadav had earlier contested the 2014 Telangana Assembly elections on the ticket of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and in 2018 as an independent candidate. After this, he joined the Congress Party in 2023
Before Naveen Yadav, Azharuddin was a strong Congress candidate from this seat and Anjan Kumar Yadav was also in the race to get the ticket from here, but Naveen Yadav defeated both of them. Azharuddin and Anjan Kumar are said to be angry over Naveen Yadav being given preference over two senior Congress leaders.
