India inflation rate 2025: The festive season is going on and big festivals like Diwali are about to come. Everyone waits for the bonus in Diwali, but this year people have got the bonus even before Diwali. According to the latest data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), consumer price based inflation in the country has declined to 1.54 percent in September. Which is 0.53 percent less than last month.
That means the prices of green vegetables, pulses and food items have come down. If we talk about the data, retail inflation has reached its lowest level after 8 years. This level of inflation is the lowest after June 2017. Which means, this time Diwali will be even more full of lights. Due to low prices of things, it will affect people’s pockets and they will be able to save more than before.
What will be the effect of low prices?
According to NSO, there has been a decline in the prices of essential commodities like vegetables, pulses, oils, fats, fruits, grains, eggs etc. in the month of September. Which will have a direct impact on people’s pockets and kitchens. Due to low inflation, people’s savings will increase. Also, it will become easier for the housewife to run the kitchen. Compared to September 2024, today the prices of vegetables have decreased by 21.38 percent and the prices of pulses and their products have decreased by 15.32 percent.
Food inflation rate decreased
According to NSO information, the main reasons for low food inflation are favorable base effect and fall in food prices. Food inflation was minus 2.28 percent in the month of September, which is the lowest since December 2018. Besides, the rates of edible oils, fats and fruits have also remained under control as compared to previous years. Which shows that the prices of food items have come down.
The Government of India has recently taken a big step by bringing GST reform. Due to which the pressure on the prices of goods reduced and prices fell. Experts believe that the wider impact of GST reform can be seen in the coming days also. Also, inflation rate can remain under control.
