After India’s victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, head coach Gautam Gambhir made a big statement about Shubman Gill. Gambhir praised Gill, saying that he has passed his toughest test as captain in England and no one has done him any favor by appointing him as Test and ODI captain.

Let us tell you that under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, India had leveled the five-Test series in England, whereas now it defeated West Indies in both the matches. Gill has now been made the captain of the ODI team in place of Rohit Sharma, which will start with the tour of Australia.

When Gambhir was asked how he handles the new captain as a head coach, he said, “By allowing him to maintain his natural approach. I think nobody has done him any favor by making him Test or ODI captain. I think he deserves it. I believe he has worked hard. He has already passed the toughest test in the England tour as a captain. The England tour was really quite tough because we faced foreign players.” Was from a strong team under the circumstances. Gill led from the front and earned respect for himself among the players.”

Gambhir is currently focusing on the present and is not worried about whether India will play the final of the 2027 World Test Championship or not. He said, “I am not thinking that far ahead about what will happen in the final of the World Test Championship in 2027. I want to remain in the present. It is important for us to win every series. We have a very busy schedule and hopefully we will get favorable results in the future as well.”
