Women have to face the problem of periods every month. During this time, women not only have to face unbearable pain, but they are also prohibited from doing religious activities, worship etc. In such a situation, only one question arises in the minds of women that why do they have menstruation? Do you know that women got the start of menstruation because of a curse, so let us know the mythological story related to menstruation.

According to Bhagwat Purana, Guru Brihaspati Indradev got angry. The demons took advantage of this and started attacking the gods. Indra captured the world by defeating the gods and demons. Due to which Indradev was forced to leave his seat. Leaving the seat, he went to Guru Brahma for help. To solve this problem, Brahma asked Indra’s Kosi Brahmagyani to serve him.

After this, Indradev started serving Brahmagyani, but Indra did not know that Brahmagyani’s mother was a demon and whatever material Indradev offered to Brahmagyani, went to the demons. In such a situation, Indradev’s penance was not succeeding.

When Indra came to know that Brahmagyani’s mother was a demon. Angered by this, he got angry and killed Brahma Gyani, due to which he committed the sin of killing Brahma and then that sin started chasing Lord Indra. Troubled by this, Indra did penance to Lord Vishnu for many years and finally Vishnu became pleased and appeared before Indra and asked for a boon, then Indra asked for the boon of being freed from killing Brahma. Vishnu ji told Indradev to divide his sins into many parts, which will reduce the sins. He said that if this sin is divided equally among trees, water, earth and women, then you will be freed from killing a Brahman.

Then Indra convinced the trees, water, land and woman to give up a little portion of their sins. Indra promised to give each of them a boon, according to which the woman agreed to take the blame for killing Indra’s Brahma. In return, Indra gave a boon to the woman that women would have menstruation every month. But women will be able to do many times more work than men.

According to mythological beliefs, women are still suffering the sin of killing a Brahma. Therefore, during this period, they are not allowed to perform puja in the temple as well as at home. However, from a scientific point of view, menstruation is a biological process, which prepares women for pregnancy.
