The resentment between the Pakistani Army and its intelligence agency ISI has now come to the fore. This happened because the ISI failed to provide intelligence about the attacks by the Afghan Taliban, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Operation Sindoor. Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is reportedly angry with the intelligence agencies after several successful attacks on Pakistani military posts by the Afghan Taliban.
ISI special wreaked havoc on Pakistan Army
Meanwhile, Taliban has claimed that it has killed 58 Pakistani soldiers and injured many others. Indian officials say that these shameful incidents have inspired large-scale reshuffle in ISI. Taliban and TTP were once the property of ISI. Today they are staunch enemies and officials say that losing to an organization nurtured by the ISI is nothing short of shameful.
Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan lost their seats because of TLP
Another failure of ISI is the protest by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). There were good relations between TLP and ISI and the agency used this organization to put pressure on the democratically elected government. ISI used TLP against both Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan and both lost their positions.
Today TLP is taking up arms against the ruling establishment and this is a sign of a major failure of ISI. ISI seems to be losing on the Kashmir front also. Operation Sindoor clearly put the Pakistani establishment into a deep sleep. Indian intelligence agencies believe that this failure of the intelligence department is mainly due to excessive interference of the army, lack of coordination and infighting.
Munir called a high level meeting
Under the leadership of Field Marshal Munir, he is now allowing ISI to work independently. From work to appointments, he has control over everything. There is huge resentment among the party leaders due to this. For this reason, Munir called a meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. Top officials of both the Army and ISI were present in this meeting, which was called to take stock of the situation after the successful attacks on Pakistani military posts by the Afghan Taliban.
Pak Army Chief’s warning to ISI
Asim Munir expressed his displeasure in the high-level meeting and warned the officials not to show any laxity in the future. He also sought detailed answers as to why the intelligence department was failing again and again. Field Marshal Munir slammed his own officers for the lack of planning against the Afghan Taliban. He said that the apparent lack of strategy became the reason for the shameful situation against the Taliban.
