Even after Pakistan’s airstrike, Afghanistan has decided to participate in the meeting to be held in Doha regarding ceasefire. The Taliban government issued a statement condemning Pakistan’s attack and said that Afghanistan has currently restrained its army from taking revenge. The Taliban said that to maintain the dignity and security of the ceasefire, any retaliatory action has been avoided for now.
Afghanistan’s Defense Minister reached Doha
Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Muhajid posted on social media platform X and informed that a high-level delegation led by Defense Minister Maulvi Mohammad Yacob Mujahid has left for Doha. Pakistan attacked Paktika province of Afghanistan late night on Friday (17 October 2025), in which three of its local cricketers were killed.
Taliban will not retaliate against Pakistan right now
In a statement issued by the Taliban, it said, “Pakistan’s attack is condemnable, but for the sake of regional peace, it will not retaliate against Pakistan right now. This decision has been taken so that the atmosphere of talks between the two sides remains respectful and peaceful.” A delegation of Pakistan has also reached Qatar’s capital Doha for peace talks.
‘Pakistan is taking provocative action’
The Taliban statement said, “The government of Afghanistan considers Pakistan’s attack as a provocation and an attempt to prolong the war. Despite knowing that we have the right to respond to Pakistan’s actions, we have decided to refrain from new actions. Whatever conflict is taking place in the region is due to the provocation by Pakistan. Afghanistan believes in regional solutions and regional security.”
