Former Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli on Sunday (19 October 2025) alleged that the current Sushila Karki government is trying to arrest him without any concrete reason. He claimed that the present government is not serious about holding the general elections to be held on March 5, 2026.
KP Oli will demand restoration of dissolved House of Representatives
After the removal of the post, KP Oli said in Kathmandu that his party CPN-UML will demand restoration of the dissolved House of Representatives. KP Oli had resigned in early September after violent protests by the Gen-Z group against his government over the issue of corruption and ban on social media. After this, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was appointed interim Prime Minister on 12 September and President Ramchandra Paudel dissolved Parliament on her recommendation. The next general elections are to be held on March 5, 2026.
My phone was confiscated: KP Oli
KP Oli said that when Nepali Army rescued him from the Prime Minister’s residence after the attack by the protesters, his mobile phone was confiscated for a few days. He criticized the government for withdrawing some of its security personnel and said that the government had failed to ensure a secure environment for free and fair elections.
Violence caused by external elements: KP Oli
The former Prime Minister claimed that during his tenure the law and order situation was better and the media was more secure. He accused the media of ignoring the vandalism and arson done in the name of Gen-Z. He alleged that the violence during Gen-Z protests was due to infiltration from outside elements.
Commenting on the Napo-Kids movement launched by Nepal’s youth along with his protests, Oli said, “I cannot accept the Napo-Babe campaign launched by Gen-Z, which has created terror among the Nepali people.”
