Bangladesh’s Jamaat-e-Islami and the alliance of Islamic and other opposition parties led by it have announced protests on the India-Bangladesh border. Earlier, the National Citizen Party (NCP), led by anti-Sheikh Hasina student leaders, has also been included in this alliance. The alliance says that it will hold this demonstration in protest against the alleged harassment of Bangladeshi citizens by India and the alleged killings near the border.
The Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance of 11 parties has announced that protest rallies will be organized on June 12 in the border districts and important border points of Bangladesh. After this, a big meeting and procession will be taken out in the capital Dhaka on June 15. The alliance has also criticized the Bangladesh government and alleged that India is trying to forcibly send people across the border.

Bangladeshi civilians killed in BSF firing
The alliance also alleged that Bangladeshi civilians were killed in firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF). It has also been announced to march to Indian border posts on this issue. This decision has come at a time when the issue of alleged push-in in Bangladesh, i.e. forcibly sending people across the border, remains a topic of discussion. According to reports, Dhaka had also raised this issue before the recent Director General level meeting held in New Delhi between the border security forces of India and Bangladesh. Although India has denied these allegations. India says that it is not doing any kind of push-in and only illegal foreign nationals are being sent back as per the due legal process and arrangements made between the two countries. India says that such people are sent back only after complete identity verification.
Criticism of Home Minister of Bangladesh Government
After the proposed demonstration by the Islamic parties of Bangladesh, this issue is no longer limited to government talks only but seems to be taking the form of public protest. Jamaat-e-Islami said in its statement that protest rallies will be organized in the border districts on June 12 and a big protest march will be taken out in Dhaka on June 15. This statement has the signature of former MP AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad. Even before this, he had criticized the Home Minister of Bangladesh Government on border related issues and said that the government was adopting a more soft attitude towards India.
Islamic ideology organizations in Bangladesh
This alliance of 11 parties was formed before the general elections of Bangladesh on 12 February. It is led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and includes many organizations with Islamic ideology. These include Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Khilafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khilafat Movement and Nizam-e-Islam Party and many other parties. The protests on the Indian border were announced at a press conference held at the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami in Dhaka on Wednesday. Alliance coordinator and Jamaat-e-Islami assistant general secretary AHM Hamidur Rehman Azad said that rallies will be held in all important border areas on Friday, June 12, followed by a big demonstration in the capital on June 15.
How many illegal immigrants have been sent to Bangladesh so far?
The West Bengal government has said that about 4,800 illegal immigrants have been sent to Bangladesh from the holding centers in the border areas, while the process of returning 836 others is underway. There is approximately 4,096 km long border between India and Bangladesh, which is considered to be the longest international border of India with any country. At present, talks are going on between the two countries on this issue at diplomatic and border management level, while the Jamaat-e-Islami led alliance is preparing to take it forward as a public movement.
