Every year thousands of people suffer from diseases like dengue, but now Brazil has found a new way. The world’s largest mosquito factory has opened in Campinas city of Sao Paulo state, where 19 million mosquitoes are produced every week. These mosquitoes are special because they contain bacteria that do not allow the dengue virus to spread. The news of this factory is going viral and people are surprised as to how the disease caused by mosquitoes can be prevented.
The entire factory is spread over 1300 square meters.
This mosquito factory of Brazil is spread over 1,300 square meters. The employees here work hard day and night so that the mosquitoes are fully prepared for breeding. The mosquitoes produced in factories are Aedes aegypti, which spread dengue. But they are infected with a special bacteria Wolbachia. This bacteria does not allow dengue virus to grow in the body of mosquitoes, and when these mosquitoes bite humans, the risk of spreading dengue is eliminated. The most important thing is that when these mosquitoes produce new mosquitoes, this bacteria also passes to their offspring.

Mosquitoes are produced in thousands of trays in the factory. First, the larvae develop in trays filled with water. When these larvae become mosquitoes, they are kept in cages. They are given food there. Male mosquitoes receive sweet solution and female mosquitoes receive blood (which is contained in a bag that looks like human skin). Mosquitoes live in cages for four weeks, breed and lay eggs.
