By-elections will be held in Jubilee Hills Assembly in Telangana on 11 November. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants to win this seat at any cost, because Congress has been continuously losing from this seat. This time Reddy has joined hands with Asaduddin Owaisi to give a tough competition to BRS and BJP.
Congress has fielded Naveen Yadav, who was once in Owaisi’s AIMIM, from this seat. Due to this, Owaisi has announced that his party will not contest the by-election this time and will support Naveen Yadav. After recently meeting Naveen Yadav, Owaisi has decided not to contest Jubilee Hills by-election.
What did Asaduddin Owaisi say
While talking to the media regarding Jubilee Hills by-election, Owaisi said that we have two councilors there. Despite this we are not contesting elections. We appeal to the people of Jubilee Hills that this is a by-election. This will neither form nor fall any government. We appeal to the public that you gave a chance to the BRRS leader for ten years, even when he was ill. Therefore, my appeal is that this time give a chance to young Naveen Yadav so that he can bring development in Jubilee Hills.
Why are Jubilee Hills by-elections being held?
Actually, one reason for this is being said that Owaisi gets along well with Revanth Reddy. Even if he has differences with the Congress leadership. The Jubilee Hills seat was won by Mangti Gopinath of BRS in the 2023 assembly elections. Due to his death, by-elections are being held on this seat. This time BRS has made Gopinath’s wife its candidate.
Reason for giving ticket to Naveen Yadav
Even though Congress has fielded Naveen Yadav from this seat, this is the area of former cricketer and Congress leader Azharuddin. Even amidst the Congress wave in 2023, Mohammad Azharuddin lost this seat by 16,000 votes. The number of Muslim voters is high in this seat with 3 lakh 98 thousand votes. It is because of Azharuddin’s defeat from the Muslim dominated seat that Congress has bet on an OBC face this time.
