Abhishek Sharma has reached Delhi High Court, where he has filed a case regarding the protection of personality rights. Abhishek had demanded removal of the content defaming him and the content created by AI without his consent. At present, the court has postponed the hearing on the petition regarding protection of personality rights.
Justice Jyoti Singh heard the case for a while and found that Abhishek Sharma had not posted screenshots of the URL that violated his personality rights. Justice Singh told Abhishek’s lawyer that the affidavit and screenshots submitted do not match the table. Thus, for the time being the court refused to pass any order.
The High Court also said that in this digital age, there is a very thin line between defamation and personality rights. At present, Abhishek Sharma has been asked to file a separate affidavit, in which the screenshots related to the case will be placed in sequence.
Abhishek said in his petition that the AI content being posted on social media defaming him should be removed. During the hearing, advocate Varun Pathak, appearing for Meta Platforms, said that out of the 8 URLs given by Abhishek Sharma, two could not be accessed and those links did not open.
On the other hand, Abhishek’s lawyer said that there was defamatory AI content in that URL, in which his manager was called his girlfriend.
Abhishek Sharma is currently on England tour, where Team India is busy in the five-match T20 series. The Indian team is trailing 1-0 in the series after the first 2 T20 matches.
