- Calls for attacks on Lebanon’s airports, ports, power stations.
US Iran War: After the failure of peace talks between America and Iran in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, news of new attacks on Israel has come to light. Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has claimed to have carried out several attacks on Israel.
The Lebanese armed group issued a statement saying it had carried out several attacks on Israeli settlements and military targets. Hezbollah fighters targeted the Misgav settlement, attacked Israeli soldiers in Kfar Giladi and also targeted the Zarit barracks.
The scope of attacks in Lebanon should be increased: Cohen
On the other hand, Israel’s Energy Minister Eli Cohen has demanded to expand the scope of the country’s military attacks on Lebanon to include the civilian infrastructure there as well. He argued that no distinction should now be made between the Lebanese government and Hezbollah.
In an interview with Israeli journalist Ayala Hassan, Energy Minister Eli Cohen said that so far Israel’s actions have focused mainly on Hezbollah positions and selected targets, including areas like Beirut’s Dahiya. Talking about taking major action, he said that the country’s major infrastructure like Beirut’s airport, port and power station should also be attacked.
What demand did the Israeli Energy Minister put forward??
He said, ‘I demanded that the distinction between Hezbollah and the Lebanese government be stopped. We are continuously attacking Dahiya (Hezbollah’s stronghold in Beirut), Hezbollah and special targets. Now we must attack Lebanon’s infrastructure, which will include Beirut airport, its ports, other sites and power stations. The Lebanese government itself should pay its price. At least that was the discussion from my perspective. He said that he had raised this issue in the Israeli cabinet meeting held on Wednesday last week (April 8, 2026).
