Artificial Intelligence: Ever since the era of AI (Artificial Intelligence) has started, news of layoffs are being heard frequently. In such a situation, people are living in fear that they might be next. It is being said that in the next 50 years, there will be no such job which will be 100 percent secured by AI.
The answers found on Reddit show that nowadays people have more confidence in those jobs which require human manners, skills and interaction. As the scope of AI increases, these jobs will be able to cope with it well.
Jobs secured by AI
Reddit users feel that in this age of AI, jobs that require skill are the most secure, such as plumbers, healthcare-related jobs such as nurses, therapists, midwives, and licensed professions such as doctors and lawyers.
Users believe that in the coming time, AI will not be able to completely replace these jobs. One user said, “I am a software engineer and I don’t expect my career to last more than 5 years.” Everything is getting automated so fast. At this point, if it’s a matter of long-term sustainability, I’d bet on a plumber rather than a coder.
AI has no effect on these jobs
- The work of plumber, technician and carpenter requires a lot of human skills. Renovating an old building or fixing the wiring behind the walls is not within the reach of AI at present.
- AI cannot even replace nurses, therapists, surgeons and dentists. Of course, AI can detect diseases, but AI will fail in treating the patient, supporting him and understanding his emotions.
- Jobs like HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) and welding depend on sensory feedback. For these, the worker has to adapt himself to different situations, which are beyond AI or robots.
