On Saturday, America launched a major military operation against Iran and launched missile and air strikes on 10 Iranian army bases located in and near the Strait of Hormuz. Fighter planes of the US Navy and Air Force carried out this operation. US Central Command (CENTCOM) has also released a video of the attack. America says that this action was taken in response to the drone attack by Iran on the oil tanker M/T Kiku.
10 military bases of Iran were targeted
US Central Command said on social media platform X that US military aircraft targeted Iran’s military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and minelayer capability. Later CENTCOM clarified that this operation was conducted on 10 different military bases of Iran located in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

Retaliatory action taken after drone attack on oil tanker
According to the US military, Iranian forces targeted the oil tanker M/T Kiku in a unilateral drone attack early Saturday. At that time the ship was passing through the Strait of Hormuz and was loaded with more than 2 million barrels of crude oil.
US officials say Iran was given the opportunity to abide by the ceasefire agreement, but it chose to attack the merchant ship instead. In response to this, the American Army took military action.
The tanker was going from Qatari oil field to UAE
According to ship tracking data, the M/T Kiku departed from an oil field in Qatar earlier this week and was headed to a port in the United Arab Emirates, located just beyond the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman.

This tanker was passing through the alternative sea route near the coast of Oman, which is being used as an alternative to Iran’s regional waterway.
CENTCOM released video of the attack
After the attack, the US Central Command also shared the video of this military operation on X. CENTCOM claimed that in this operation, huge damage was caused to Iran’s surveillance system, communication network, air defense system, drone bases and minelayer capabilities.

Trump gave strict warning
US President Donald Trump wrote on social media that America has attacked Iran’s missile and drone storage bases and coastal radar sites in violation of the ceasefire agreement. Trump said, ‘Iran has once again violated the ceasefire agreement. America has attacked its missile and drone storage bases and coastal radar sites. He warned that a time may come when America will not exercise restraint and will be forced to end military action completely. Trump wrote, ‘If this happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist.’
Such an attack has happened before too
This latest tension has increased at a time when a similar military action took place between Iran and America a few days ago. On Thursday, there was an Iranian drone attack on a merchant ship off the coast of Oman, in response to which the US retaliated the next day.
